Automakers Agree to California’s Emission Standards

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) recently finalized an agreement with a group of automakers to reduce emissions within the Golden State. Ford Motor Co., Volkswagen AG, Honda Motor Co. and BMW AG initially entered into an agreement with CARB in July 2019. Volvo Cars later joined in, also finalizing its agreement on August 17.

As part of the deal, the five companies will have an extra year to comply with the Obama-era requirements of annual increases in fuel efficiency by 5%, for 2021 to 2026 model year cars and light trucks. According to the Center for Biological Diversity, the agreement means there will be a 3.7% improvement in fuel economy from 2022 to 2026.

Currently, 13 states, including New York, follow California’s emission standards. New York began implementing greenhouse gas regulations for cars in 2009, the same year California did.

If you own an older car that is emitting smog when you drive it, take that air-polluting vehicle off the road and sell it to Gershow Recycling. Gershow will buy your gas-guzzling vehicle from you and recycle the vehicle into a high-quality scrap product that can be made into a newer, more environmentally friendly vehicle.

Each year, Gershow buys thousands of junk cars that would have otherwise continued to pollute the atmosphere. By selling your older vehicle to Gershow, you get money for it, plus you help preserve the environment. In addition, recycling junk cars also helps preserve our natural resources.

Gershow has nine convenient locations throughout Long Island and the New York metropolitan area. To sell your junk vehicle, or for more information, call (631) 371-2031 or visit https://clunkersintocash.com/.
