Ford recently announced that it is recalling more than 700,000 vehicles worldwide after it was found that the rearview cameras were not working properly. The company said that, at times, the cameras would either transmit images that would become distorted or go blank.
The recalls affect 620,246 vehicles in the U.S., 76,566 in Canada and 4,302 in Mexico. The models being recalled include the 2020 Ford Explorer, the 2020 Ford F150, the 2020 Ford Mustang, the 2020 Ford Transit, the 2020 Ford Super Duty models (F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550), the 2020 Ford Expedition, the 2020 Ford Escape, the 2020 Ford Ranger, the 2020 Ford Edge, the 2020 Lincoln MKX and the 2020 Lincoln Nautilus.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration attributed the defect to electrical problems. Ford said it has not heard of any injuries or accidents as a result of the defective cameras. The auto manufacturer also announced that its dealers will replace the defective cameras free of charge and recalls will begin on November 7.
