Tesla has announced that it is reducing used-vehicle warranty coverage on its older Model S sedans and Model X crossovers after the original warranty expires. This comes a few days after the electric vehicle (EV) maker dropped its seven-day “no questions asked” return policy on its newly purchased cars.
“If the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty has already expired, the Used Vehicle Limited Warranty will provide coverage of 1 year or 10,000 miles, starting from your delivery date,” Tesla announced on its website.
After the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty expired, all Model S and X vehicles that were less than four years old and had fewer than 50,000 miles were covered by a Used Vehicle Limited Warranty for four years or 50,000 miles, whichever came first. For the models that were four to six years old and had between 50,000 and 100,000 miles, owners received Used Vehicle Extended Limited Warranty coverage for two years or 100,000 miles (whichever came first) after the original warranty expired.
If you have an older vehicle that is still under warranty, it may be a good idea to hold onto it. But once the warranty expires, you might consider getting rid of it. If you are looking to sell your unwanted vehicle, call the Long Island junk cars for cash experts at Gershow Recycling. They will buy your vehicle, no matter how old it is or what condition it is in. Plus, if your car is more than eight years old, Gershow does not require a title.
